Salty Waters
A downloadable game for Windows
You’re the new guy on a cargo ship. First day on the tools, and the crew already has you running errands, grabbing “gear”, and copping endless banter. Sky hooks. Elbow grease. A long wait. You know… the usual.
At first, it’s just harmless hazing. The crew cracks jokes, you stumble through your tasks, and you start learning the ropes… mostly by making mistakes.
Life at sea isn’t all fun and games, though. The ship is massive, stretching from bow to stern, and every task feels urgent, even when it makes no sense. Every call over the radio might mean trouble, every shadow a reminder that this is hard work, and not all lessons are taught gently, especially in a workplace with questionable management and poor culture.
As the new apprentice, you’ll need to explore the ship, complete the crew’s “essential” tasks, and figure out how to survive your first shift without getting in over your head. Move carefully, keep your wits about you, and try not to let the chaos or the jokes throw you off.
Features:
- Narrative-driven experience with heavy Aussie-inspired banter
- Explore a massive container ship from bow to stern
- Complete tasks that range from genuinely useful to hilariously pointless
- A mix of humor, tension, and poor workplace culture
- Short, self-contained experience built for the Bad Ideas Game Jam 2026

[ WARNING] Please Read,
The current build is being flagged by windows as a virus, as the .exe wasn't run before we uploaded that version. Our game was constructed in Godot and our files are public on GitHub for inspection. This is a rather frustrating problem with windows.
We are hoping to patch this once the Jam has concluded as we can upload the game again.
"If Microsoft Defender has falsely flagged a file:
- Check Protection History: Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history.
- Allow the File: Find the blocked item, click it, and select Allow on device under the Actions menu.
- Add Exclusion: If the file is continually blocked, add it to the exclusion list via Virus & threat protection settings > Manage settings > Exclusions > Add or remove exclusions. "
